SCHMETZ DPx5 LBR is an industrial lockstitch needle for sewing leather with a LBR (Wide reverse twist point) cutting point. The cut is made at approximately a 45 angle to the thread direction, and the wide LBR shape produces a distinctive decorative, raised stitch with a leftward slant.

Why is LBR so sought after for decorative stitching?

Quick thread + needle sizing logic

Needle size is chosen based on application, thread thickness and material hardness/thickness: the thicker the thread and the stiffer the leather, the larger the NM. For decorative topstitching on leather, thicker threads and larger NM are often selected.
